The Autism Society and AMC Theatres are proud to present a special Sensory Friendly Films presentation of Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 1 on November 30, 7 p.m., at select participating AMC theatres in the following markets: Kansas City, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Phoenix, Chicago, Minneapolis, Denver, New York and Washington, D.C. As with all Sensory Friendly Films, the lights will be turned up, the sound turned down and audience members are welcome to get up and dance, walk, shout or sing in order to provide a more accepting and comfortable setting for this unique audience. Individuals can bring in their own gluten-free, casein-free snacks and no previews or advertisements will be shown before the movie.

There are plans to cut the federal budget that will affect people with disabilities who use Medicaid. Come out and have your voice heard on September 21st, 2011 12pm when self-advocates come out to Capitol Hill to speak against Medicaid cuts!

Alcohol Tax Waiting List Initiative Plan for Services of Short Duration

The Maryland Developmental Disabilities Administration is hosting a conference call Monday June 27, 2011 to discuss and develop a plan for using a portion of the FY 2012 Alcohol Tax Appropriation for “services of short duration”.
The draft plan is now posted on the DDA website and can be found at http://www.ddamaryland.org/bill994.htm
It will be very helpful to review the plan before the meeting
